KATHMANDU, May 22: The CIAA has ordered action against 13,390 civil servants for not submitting the property details within the set deadline.
A CIAA board meeting on Monday instructed the ministries and departments concerned to take action against the defiant civil servants and duly inform the government. Following the recommendation of the National Vigilance Center, the anti-graft body under the direct supervision of the Office of the Prime Minister, the CIAA made the decision to this effect.
The Corruption Prevention Act-2002 requires that each government employee must submit his/her property details within 60 days of the start of each fiscal year. But many government officials often flout this law. The Act mandates the CIAA to slap a fine of Rs 5,000 if a civil servant fails to submit such details.
