KATHMADU, Aug 10: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Wednesday has decided to fine 1,003 civil servants for not furnishing their property details of the fiscal year 2015/16 within the given deadline.
Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the CIAA informed that it has directed concerned authorities to fine Rs 5000 to these officials, as provisioned by the CIAA Act 1991 and Prevention of Corruption Act 2002.
Spokesperson of CIAA Krishna Hari Puskar informed that the action has been taken against civil servants who failed to submit their property details to Department of Civil Personnel Records (DoCPR) within 60 days of joining the service and against those who were supposed to submit property details within 60 days of expiry of the fiscal year. “But as they did not, the CIAA decided to recommend the concerned authority to fine them,” he said.
In 2014/15, the CIAA had directed the government to fine 6,741 civil servants for either not furnishing their property or doing so only after the deadline expired.
