POKHARA, Dec 26: A group of 129 Chinese players has arrived in Pokhara aboard a chartered Sichuan Airlines flight from Chengdu, China.
The players were warmly welcomed by Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya and other officials.

They have come to participate in the International Dragon Boat Festival, which begins this Friday (December 27). The second edition of the festival will take place at Phewa Lake, with eight teams from China, one from Singapore, and 11 from Nepal taking part.
In the previous edition of the festival, too, Chinese players had traveled to Pokhara on a chartered flight from Sichuan. This marks the third occasion that Sichuan has sent participants to Pokhara via a chartered flight. They had also arrived by a chartered plane for the cross-country running competition held in Pokhara in October.
After their stay in Pokhara, the Sichuan players will depart for Kathmandu, where 120 individuals, including businesspeople and journalists, are scheduled to hold a press conference. The event aims to urge the government to permit international flights at the Pokhara Regional International Airport.
