MAKWANPUR, June 2: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has obstructed the Bagmati Province Assembly meeting.

The meeting was put off for some time after the UML obstructed the assembly proceedings at the outset of the meeting.

Province Assembly members from CPN-UML had staged protests shortly after the assembly meeting convened to deliberate on the policies and programmes presented by the Bagmati province government for the upcoming fiscal year.

After the protest, Speaker Sanu Kumar Shrestha had allowed UML's chief whip Deepak Niraula to give his opinion. Niraula protested the government's decision to transfer three employees of the Livestock and Fishery Development Centre without any valid grounds.

Niraula said they would continue disrupting the assembly proceedings until a process is put forward to form an all-side probe committee to that end. Speaker Shrestha then adjourned the meeting for some time.
