UML cadres accused of beating women in Myagdi

MYAGDI, May 14: Nepali Congress (NC) has accused the CPN-UML supporters of beating the NC cadres stating that they did not vote for them in the election in Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-5, Malkwang of Myagdi district at midnight.

According to Ward Chairman candidate Amar Chhantyal, locals Jhag Chhantyal, Rasmi Chhantyal, Khim Chhantyal, Sanam Chhantyal, Damati Chhantyal, Bal Kumari Chhantyal, Dilkumari Chhantyal and Khimsara Chhantyal were injured in the incident. “They have been beaten instead of me. We have informed the police about the incident,” said Amar Chhantyal.

According to him, UML supporters had beaten women including some men saying that they did not vote for them. Stating that the election was held peacefully, chaos was seen in the middle of the night. Chhantyal said that they have filed a case against the accused.

Jhag Chhantyal, who was injured in the beating, said the entire village was terrified after women were also beaten up. He has demanded action against the culprits involved in the incident.

However, the CPN-UML ward Committee has not made any comment on the incident. Meanwhile, the District Police Office has stated that victims have not lodged any complaint with them till Saturday morning.
