KATHMANDU, April 29: The number of Nepali migrant workers infected by coronavirus in Bahrain has climbed to 126 as of Wednesday, the Nepal Embassy in Manama said.
The embassy had reported last week that 49 Nepali workers were infected by the virus.
In a press release, the embassy said today that additional 77 Nepali migrant workers have been infected.
Nepal proposes updating MoU on labour issue with Bahrain
During a telephone conversation with Nepali Ambassador to Bahrain, Padam Sundas, the Bahraini government authorities said that the Nepali workers will be shifted to a safer place where the health workers will treat them, according to the embassy.
The Bahraini authorities told the ambassador that they have made a new arrangement to take care of the foreign migrant workers.
The embassy has urged the Nepali nationals in Bahrain to immediately contact in case of emergency.
Bahrain has a total of 1556 COVID-19 cases, and eight people have died so far.
