KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Pakistan has announced free visas to tourists and business travelers from 126 countries including Nepal. Nepal is among the 126 countries whose nationals are entitled to free visa to travel to Pakistan with the new visa policy that came into effect from August 14, 2024.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H Hashmi, said Pakistan’s revised and liberalized visa policy, through online visa portal https://visa.nadra.gov.pk, is fully operational for citizens of 126 countries including Nepal. "Tourists and businesspersons can get a visa within 24 hours without a visa fee," he wrote on X.

Pakistani authorities in July had announced changes to their visa policies, including a significant waiver of visa fees for visitors from 126 countries.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif then said that the easing of the visa regime is expected to help make Pakistan an attractive destination for investments and tourism.

Federal Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, unveiled the new visa policy aimed at simplifying procedures for citizens of many countries, which he said will significantly reduce the bureaucracy and delays that previously hindered tourist arrivals.

With the new policy coming into effect, the electronic visa (e-Visa) fees for visitors from 126 countries have been abolished, and the application process has been significantly streamlined. The visa is being issued free of charge for either tourism or business purposes for the nationals of the designated countries including Nepal.

As per the new arrangement, a 90-day visa is granted to tourists and business travelers within 24 hours. Furthermore, a new online visa application form now contains only 30 questions against nearly a hundred previously.

To benefit from this new measure of free tourist or business visas and express delivery, citizens of eligible countries must select the “Visa Prior to Arrival” option.
