JANAKPUR, Jan 17: Janakpur has been selected as the capital of Province 2. Polls were held for the selection of the province’s capital on Monday. Among the 99 lawmakers present in the provincial assembly meeting today, 78 voted in favor of Janakpur, making it the capital of the province.
Although a poll for the same was held earlier on March 16, 2020, a decision on the province’s capital could not be reached.

Similarly, voting for the selection of a new name for Province 2 is also currently underway. The proposed names of the province are Madhes, Janaki, Mithila Bhojpura, and Madhya Madhesh.
