KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Dr Paavo Väyrynen, Finland´s Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, will visit Nepal on 3-5 February at the invitation of Finance Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai.A statement issued by the Embassy of Finland in Kathmandu said on Monday that topics of discussion during the visit include Finland´s development cooperation with Nepal as well as the current political situation and development plans of Nepal.
"The situation of the peace process, human rights and democracy are also on the agenda," said the statement. "Trade and commercial issues together with regional and international affairs will be discussed."
During the visit, the two countries are scheduled to sign an agreement on "the Promotion and Protection of Investments". Representatives of Finnish business will also take part in the minister’s visit.
Minister Väyrynen is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Minister Dr Bhattarai, Foreign Minister Upendra Yadav, Local Development Minister Ram Chandra Jha, Science and Technology Minister Ganesh Sah, Forest and Soil Conservation Minister Kiran Gurung, Education Minister Renu Yadav, Commerce and Supplies Minister Rajendra Mahato and Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nemwang.
