SIMIKOT, Oct 21: Four Slovenians, three guides and five locals on a trek to Hilsa and Limi in the northern Namkha village of Humla have been stranded in Tumling in the Limi region due to heavy snowfall since Sunday.

Ganesh Acharya, Chief District Officer (CDO), said that they were forced to stop at Tumling after heavy snowfall on Sunday night and prevented them from returning to Simikot.

The team had gone to Hilsa via Simikot on October 8 and after the trek, the team was scheduled to reach Simikot on foot via the Nyalu Lake. Pema Lama, Humla representative of Richa Tour, said that the team had to stop following heavy snowfall in Nyalu Lake since Sunday.

Paljor Tamang, Ward Chairman of Namkha Rural Municipality-6, said that there was a problem in the movement of local and foreign tourists after the road was closed due to more than three feet of snowfall in Nyalu Lake. CDO Acharya said that a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs to send a helicopter for the rescue. According to Acharya, the rescue operation could not be carried out on Wednesday due to bad weather.
