Nepal records 272 new cases, eight deaths on Friday

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Nepal has recorded 270 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The new cases were detected from among 4,712 samples tested across the country.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Kathmandu Valley has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases as compared to the other parts of the country. While 89 persons tested positive for the virus in Kathmandu, 18 others tested positive for the virus in Lalitpur. The number of people who tested positived for the virus in Bhaktapur stood 11.

According to the MoHP, a total of eight people died due to the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours taking the death toll from the infection to 11,277.

As many as 777 people recovered from the infection on Friday. The recovery rate in Nepal is 96.9 per cent.

The number of active cases in Nepal at present stands at 13,308. Among them, 12,250 are in home isolation, 1,058 are in institutional isolation, 307 are in ICU and 101 others are in ventilator support, according to the MoHP.
