The election office is preparing to publish the result of the by-election through a virtual platform. The result is expected to be announced by this evening.

The post of National Assembly fell vacant after the party took action against Chandra Bahadur Khadka of Arghakhanchi after he joined the CPN-UML.

Khadka has been fielded in the election as a candidate of the CPN-UML and the opposition alliance has fielded Dirghanarayan Pandey as a common candidate. Voters close to UML faction led by Madhav Kumar Nepal are likely to breach party's official instruction to vote for Khadka as they did during the by-election held in Bagmati Province.
