DOLPA, April 24: Dolpa has decided to adopt extreme vigilance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

As an employee working at a government office got infected with COVID-19, a meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center made a decision to pursue extreme vigilance in order to restrain the spread of COVID-19 in the district.

After the person working at Shey Phoksundo National Park office tested positive for COVID-19, the meeting decided to make it mandatory for all staffers of the office to stay in quarantine at their homes and undergo antigen tests. The employees have been asked to undergo a PCR test if the result is positive. The meeting has also decided to make necessary arrangements for testing, procure necessary materials and mobilize manpower.

Similarly, quick response groups will be formed in all eight local governments of the district. If any trader sells goods to a person not wearing a mask, action will be taken as per the Infectious Diseases Act 2020.

Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Dhakal, who is also the coordinator of the Crisis Management Center, informed Republica that decisions have been taken to make sanitizers available in public places and make it mandatory for people to wear face masks while coming out of home and maintain social distance to control the spread of the virus.

Similarly, additional isolation beds and ICU beds are being prepared at the district hospital. Schools and educational institutions in the district have been asked to operate in shifts as far as possible.
