Shishu Niketan Boarding School based at Putali Bazaar, the district headquarters, has been closed after students suddenly started suffering from cold and fever, said Babu Ram Poudel, a teacher.
Similarly, in the wake of swine flu scare, many students have skipped classes in another school in Putali Bazaar. Principal of Kaziman Haritika Higher Secondary School, Om Prakash Sharma, said the number of students coming to the school is very low.
The panic in the neighbouring district has also prompted the District Health Office, Syangja, to issue an alert against swine flu. "We have called on students and the public to stay alert against the disease," said Distict Health Officer Dr Tara Nath Poudel.
