BANKE, Oct 29: As many as 10 high-profile gamblers were arrested with Rs 3 million in Nepalgunj on Thursday.
Chief of Banke District Police Office, Om Rana told Republica that 10 persons were caught red-handed while playing cards and were apprehended from the local bus park area in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-4.
This was probably the first time Nepalgunj saw the arrest of high-profile gamblers with a large amount of money, according to the police.
Police, however, have not made public the names of the arrestees yet.
Police raided various places of the sub-metropolis acting on a tip-off that gambling was thriving during Dashain. District authorities said that they will be increasing their surveillance to minimize gambling in the future.
