1 killed, 8 injured in Arghakhanchi jeep plunge

ARGHAKHANCHI, Oct 23: A person died while eight others sustained injuries in a jeep accident in the district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Sharada KC of Bangemaroth, Pyuthan.

Those injured are Dil Bahadur Shrestha of Madane Rural Municipality-6, Gulmi, Radha of Rupandehi, driver Bikram Gharti and Barsha KC, her elder brother Sagar KC of Dhurkot, Gulmi, Nirajan Thapa, 12, Nirman Thapa, 13 and Bikram Shrestha,17 of Gulmi.

According to police, the incident took place when a jeep, Lu 1 Cha 6766, plunged into the Jagat Dadhkhola along the Gorusinge Road Section near Sandhikharka this afternoon.

The injured have been taken to Zonal Hospital Butwal for further treatment after preliminary treatment at Sandhikharka.

According to medical superintendent Dr Jagannath Tiwari, the condition of Dil Bahadur Shrestha and Radha Thapa is critical.

The jeep was heading to Butwal with passengers from Purkotdaha of Gulmi when the ill-fated jeep skidded off and plunged some 500 meters into the Dhadkhola rivulet.

Over speed is the cause behind the accident, according to police.
