1,500 police to be deployed in Valley during Holi

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Kathmandu has said that it is deploying 1,500 police personnel across the Kathmandu Valley in order to prevent any untoward incident during Holi.

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Metropolitan Police Range (MPR), Kathmandu has said that it is deploying 1,500 police personnel across the Kathmandu Valley in order to prevent any untoward incident during Holi. The Hindu festival will be celebrated in the valley on Thursday.   

As part of a special security plan prepared for the festival, the MPR is deploying 106 teams of police comprising 1,500 personnel across the Valley. Likewise, it is going to mobilize another 20 mobile teams to maintain law and order during the festival, according to SSP Bishow Raj Pokharel, chief of the MPR. Last year, the MPR had deployed 1,000 personnel.

SSP Pokharel also informed that police have already beefed up security in the Valley from Sunday itself keeping in view of the upcoming Holi festival. He said that the police will take strong action against anyone found putting colors or throwing water balloons to pedestrians without their consent or other illegal acts.
