YouTuber arrested for posting abusive video targeting PM Shah

KATHMANDU, April 12: Police have arrested a YouTuber on charges of producing a video containing abusive remarks targeting Prime Minister Balen Shah and other political leaders.



The accused has been identified as Roshan Pokharel, a resident of Phalgunanda Rural Municipality-7 in Panchthar district. He was taken into custody for allegedly using offensive language against the prime minister and other leaders in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel “Heads.”

According to police, the video included remarks stating that the prime minister was “not a god” and labeling “all old leaders as thieves.”


Pokharel has been detained and police have obtained a 10-day remand from the Panchthar District Court to investigate the case under cybercrime-related charges, the District Police Office, Panchthar, said.


Further investigation is underway.
