Active in the media since he was 17 years old, Khatiwada shares that he was inspired to set this record by Santosh Shah who holds the world record of the youngest anchor of a political show on RecordSetter.[break]
Apart from media, Khatiwada is also a motivated youth activist who is the Founder President of Forum of Revolution and Community Empowerment (FORCE) Nepal and also the author of “Buddha Timi Pheri Aau,” an anthology of poems.
How did you get interested in the media?
When watching TV and talk shows, I also used to wish if I could be there, hosting the show. I started with National TV and moved on to E24.
What are the personal challenges you face as a talk show host?
I regularly follow talk shows hosted by Bhusan Dahal on Fireside and Narayan Shrestha at Sajha Sawal and work to meet their standards. I feel I haven’t been able to conclude my programs with the same depth as they do. I want my programs to open new chapters and bring out something concrete.
What are some of the essential characteristics in a talk-show host?
The anchor should have a certain background. As a talk-show host, he or she should present himself or herself as a youth icon. The person must have in-depth knowledge of the issues the program focuses on so that s/he is capable of moderating the conversation well.
What are your views on TV programs targeting the youth?
There’s a lack of programs working to directly uplift the youth and their activities. The platform through which the youth can inspire young people like themselves is very limited. The media should work to highlighting the achievements of young people.
