NEPALGUNJ, June 15: Wives here are opting divorce with their estranged husbands without demanding alimony due to the tedious and legal hassle pertaining divorce entailing share of husband's property.

According to the statistic of the District Court, women often aged between 17-25 were seeking legal assistance from the Court for divorce without claiming their share in husband's property. The Court has recorded 314 such divorce cases in the recent past.

District Court Banke's Judge Ambarraj Poudel, said among the cases filed for divorce there were large number of married women whose husbands are abroad for foreign employment to have filed the divorce case citing that their conjugal relationship with their husbands had soured over the period.

"We pronounce our verdict through the Fast Tract provision, obtaining consent from the both sides, for such cases to resolve at the earliest," shared Judge Poudel.

Since filing for the divorce case with demand of property share would take at least a year to resolve, many wives just agree to separate without any claim for the same for the early resolution of the case, added Poudel. RSS
