Western Region stuns Police

KATHMANDU, April 9: The women´s team of Western Region stunned title favorite Nepal Police Club in the First National Men´s and Women´s Club League Volleyball with a four-set victory at the National Sports Council covered hall, Tripureshwar on Tuesday.



Western Region won the first set 25-17 but Police bounced back to take the second set 25-21. Western Region then edged past Police 26-24 in the third set before wrapping up the match with a 25-15 win in the final set.[break]



In the men´s section, NPC defeated University Team 25-19, 25-17, 25-13 in straight sets. In another match of the men´s category, G-4 Sports Club registered a 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17 win over Western Region while Armed Police Force (APF) Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 25-23, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21.



APF leads the points table in the men´s section with six points while Army is in the second position with three points. Police and G-4 are third and fourth respectively despite having three points each, while Western Region and University Team are in the fifth and sixth spots and have yet to open their accounts.



In the women´s category, Western Region is on top with three points. New Diamond with two points and APF with one point are second and third respectively. Police lies at the bottom with no points in its kitty.
