JANAKPUR, Dec 21: A man died of burn injuries after a fire erupted when a pick-up van carrying petrol hit a truck at Godhar of Dhanusha district at 3 am on Monday.
The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, the police informed. According to the police, the incident occurred after the driver of the truck (Na 4 Kha, 9909) lost control and a pick-up van coming from behind collided with it.

The van was laden with tires, tea leaves, petroleum products and gas cylinders. "The fire started after sparks produced as a result of friction caused by the accident caught the petroleum in the van," said sub-inspector Shankar Shah, chief of the Portaha Police Post.
According to him, some of the security personnel escorting the vehicles were also injured when the cylinder exploded after catching fire. The deceased was the driver of the van, while his assistant fled the scene after the accident.
