KATHMANDU: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, has said his party is prepared to hold dialogue with the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML to stand against forces he accused of attempting to destabilise the country.

Speaking at an interaction with left-leaning intellectuals at Parisdanda on Wednesday, Dahal indicated that cooperation with the two major parties was possible, including in efforts to counter the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

“Our party is the proponent of the Constituent Assembly, the federal democratic republic and inclusive proportional representation,” Dahal said. “In that capacity, to protect the country, the Constitution and the peace process from those who want to burn everything down from Singha Durbar onwards, we must hold talks with NC and UML. They were our former allies.”

Dahal added that dialogue and possible collaboration could extend to efforts aimed at resisting what he described as “foreign agents” and brokers undermining national interests. He said he has been advocating unity to safeguard national independence and sovereignty, arguing that broader cooperation is necessary to steer the country away from crisis.

Dahal also claimed that the public increasingly views the Nepali Communist Party as a force capable of maintaining national unity and running the government in an orderly and effective manner.

Stating that the recent consolidation of communist forces was unprecedented, Dahal said that 25 to 26 small and large groups had united under one banner, calling it the first instance in Nepal’s history of such a broad-based merger with all constituent groups remaining active.
