She also bought a set of gold-plated ear rings from the Jewelry Show. “The price they asked for was really cheap. I could not help myself from buying it,” Prasai told Republica. She said she always thought prices in UWTC are expensive. “But these fairs have changed my perception,” she stated.
Sunita Sapkota, who is doing post-graduation in management at Tribhuvan University, said, “The pricing at Jewelry Show is really attractive,” showing a gold-plated necklace and some bangles she bought from the show. “I bought gold-plated necklace for just Rs 400. I am sure I will not find it even for Rs 800 in other shops in Kathmandu,” she added.
Winter Cloth Fair and Sale is being organized by Fashion Trading Concern from Sunday. The Cloth Fair has 29 stalls with all types of clothes on display for people of all age groups. “There are 1,200 varieties of apparels,” said Parshu Ram Shrestha, organizer and managing director of Fashion Trade Concern.
The fair has separate sections for children, male and female wears. The organizer offers free gift voucher of Rs 50 to visitors at the very entrance of the fair, and the prices of clothes range from Rs 190 to Rs 3,290. Some visitors asked if the organizers are selling substandard products or clearing their stocks.
Shrestha cleared the dobut, “The products on sale are of no less quality than what we are selling from our outlets. Only thing is that we have reduced the price in a bid to win higher sales,” he stated. Shrestha, who is an importer of readymade garments from China, said all products have been imported only recently. He said he is planning to hold a Summer Sale as soon as summer begins in order to establish among consumers that sales are held not just to clear the stocks.
Jewelry Show organized by Chandeshwori Enterprises of Out has on display gold-plated and other readymade jewelries made in India. It has over 1,500 varieties of necklace, bangles, rings, bracelet and ear rings, among others.
"We are organizing the show just with the motive to create demand for gold-plated and other readymade jewelries," said Krishna Gopal Shrestha. Visitors to the show can buy jewelries at prices ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 2,000.
