TAPLEJUNG, Oct 9: A US national has gone missing during the ascent of 7,710-meter Januu Himal in Phak Tanglung Rural Municipality, Taplejung.
Police Inspector Rohit Kumar Sharma at the District Police Office, Taplejung, said that Michael Gardner went missing while ascending the Jannu Himal.
Contempt of court case filed against Himal Media
According to Inspector Sharma, Michael Gardner had gone to climb Jannu Himal through Grand Himalaya Treks & Expedition Pvt Ltd. Mitchell, holding the US passport ‘664556651’ had stayed at Sherpa Guest House in Ghunsa on October 6 before starting his expedition a day later.
Police Inspector Sharma said that he went missing since the day he went to climb the mountain. His whereabouts is still not known even as police personnel are conducting a search operation.
