KATHMANDU, June 4: Dawa Sherpa, who had been missing for five days during an Everest climbing expedition, has been rescued safely. The climbing support Sherpa, who had been missing since May 30 was rescued on Thursday and brought to Kathmandu after five days.
Information Officer of the Department of Tourism, Himal Gautam, said that Sherpa, who had been missing since May 30, was found by employees of the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee at the “Crampon Point” near Everest Base Camp. The missing Sherpa was carried from Crampon Point to Gorakshep by committee staff.

From Gorakshep, he was airlifted by an Altitude Air helicopter to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu, where he is currently receiving treatment, Information Officer Gautam said. The department thanked the concerned agencies, relevant stakeholders, and everyone involved in the rescue operation for their support in the search effort and wished Sherpa a speedy recovery.
Sherpa, a resident of Okhaldhunga, had been involved in the expedition as a support worker representing the “8K International Everest Expedition Spring Team A.”
