The convention is set for 15 September in Pokhara.[break]
Organizing a press meet on Wednesday, they claimed the faction close to party chairman Puspakamal Dahal, has been distributing new membership instead of renewing the membership of the "real workers".
Bhattrai loyalist Raju Baruwal, who is also a central committee member of the union said that the decisions taken by the party when Shalikram Jammarkattel was given the responsibility for the second time, had not been implemented till now.
Talking to Republica Baruwal said, “The monopoly of the union leadership is motivated by the wrong intension to influence the party´s upcoming convention.”
Bhattrai loyalists claimed that the party had decided to hold the convention in Kathmandu on 14th and 15th of September but later unilaterally changed it. “Prakash Shrestha, coordinator of the convention is the owner of several hotels and guest houses and can´t be leader of workers.”
The complaints against the financial irregularities and non-transparent activities of the union leadership are regularly ignored by the party leadership, they said. Without transparent investigation on the complaints there was no point holding convention, he added.
The high-level probe commission on property and financial condition of the UCPN (Maoist) had received a barrage of complaints against union leaders for not making financial records transparent and misusing the party´s fund.
Shrestha, coordinator of the convention, denied the accusations made by Bhattarai faction. “We are all ready for the convention so boycott by few members won´t affect the convention,” he said.
He said about 900 members will participate in the convention which will include 600 representatives, observers, volunteers and artists. However, Bhattarai loyalist said the earlier decision was for the participation of 400 representatives from Newa State Committee and 200 from other committees, but now representatives alone exceeds 1,000.
