UN team in Salyan

SALYAN, Dec 23: A human rights team of the United Nations (UN) has arrived in Salyan on Wednesday.



The team arrived in Khalanga on Wednesday to probe recent situation of human rights of the district, including the Maoist attack on CPN-UML convention in Luhaping on December 8, killing of a PLA personnel in Kalimati and expulsion of five teachers and students by school management committee in Bame VDC.



The team will be holding discussions with district-based political leaders, journalists, human rights activists and chiefs of security bodies. The team is said to be here for a few days.



Meanwhile, UCPN (Maoist) district secretary Tikaram Oli announced ban on entry of CPN-UML politburo member Prakash Jwala from entering the district. He accused Jwala of issuing directives to launch attack on Maoists post December 8.
