UML's Mahato secures HoR seat from Dhanusha-3

DHANUSHA, Nov 25: CPN-UML candidate Juli Kumari Mahato has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Dhanusha-3.

DHANUSHA, Nov 25: CPN-UML candidate Juli Kumari Mahato has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Dhanusha-3.


She won the election with a margin of 9,669 votes against the votes secured by her closest contender Anil Jha of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, who was the common candidate of the ruling alliance.

According to the Election Office, Mahato obtained 33,355 votes and Jha got 23,686 votes.


With this, Mahato has tasted victory in the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system for the first time. She was picked as the MP two times before this from the proportional representation quota. She was also a federal minister.
