The meeting which was called to form various departments of the UML party ended without making any decisions after the UML leaders accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of inducting his henchmen in the departments.
"The Standing Committee meeting of the CPN-UML held at Baluwatar to form various departments of the party ended without making any concrete decisions following disputes over who should be picked up as department heads of the party," UML's Deputy General Secretary Ghana Shayam Bhusal told Republica Online.
The party has not formed departments even after one and a half years of its last general convention. According to the party statute, the departments should be formed within six months of the general convention.
Oli had informed the meeting about the achievements of his recent China visit. Leaders including Vice Chairman Yubaraj Gyawali, Astha Laxmi Shakya and Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai had vented their ire at Oli for promoting factionalism in the party.
