UML General Convention: Oli maintains comfortable lead, Pokhrel trailing far behind

According to the latest results, out of 1,139 votes counted so far, Oli has secured 843 votes, while his rival Ishwar Pokhrel has received 296 votes.

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Vote counting for the selection of new leadership at the 11th General Convention of the CPN-UML is ongoing. With nearly half of the votes counted, incumbent Chair KP Sharma Oli has maintained a comfortable lead in the race for party chair.

According to the latest results, out of 1,139 votes counted so far, Oli has secured 843 votes, while his rival Ishwar Pokhrel has received 296 votes. A total of 2,227 delegates cast their votes in the election held earlier today, while 36 representatives were absent. Altogether, there are 2,263 voting delegates at the convention.


Voting for the new leadership began on Wednesday morning and concluded at 7 AM today. As many as 80 electronic voting machines were used in the election.
