KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The Unified CPN (Maoist) heading the present caretaker government has stated that the possibility of reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly (CA) has still not run out.

The party has come up with the proposal of reviving the CA through consensus among the political parties.

Speaking in the regular party spokesman- journalists meeting at the party central office in Parisdanda on Sunday, UCPN (Maoist) spokesman Agni Sapkota said that although the political parties were agreed on holding new general election, there is still the possibility of resolving the present political crisis by reviving the CA.

"Although the political parties have reached an agreement to go for fresh election of the Constituent Assembly, there was still the possibility of resuscitating the defunct Constituent Assembly," he said.

Alleging the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML of obstructing the way out to the present political impasse, the UCPN (Maoist) spokesman said a kind of nefarious tendency of not talking on other issues less than the government pervaded these two parties.

He argued that the country has not been freed from the transition due to the political bargaining that is on with the government at the centre. Sapkota reiterated that the government would not resign at any cost in the present circumstances.
