Mohamamad Shahzad's 56 runs from 53 balls as well as quickfire runs from Swapnil Patil (27 runs off 23 balls) and Abdul Shakoor (17 runs off 8 balls) helped the UAE defeat Canada by five wickets and register its first victory in four matches. The UAE chased 133-run target in 19.1 overs losing five wickets at Stirling, Scotland.Abdul's entry in the 17th over proved to be a blessing for the UAE as he smashed two sixes and picked up two singles in the 19th over when the UAE needed 24 runs from 12 balls. The UAE collected 21 runs from the penultimate over as Swapnil also hit a six in the same over.
When the UAE needed only one run in the last over, Abdul hit a boundary to spark a celebration from the fans of the Middle-East nation.
Earlier, Canada scored 132/9 with Hiral Patel's 45 runs off 27 balls and Navneet Dhaliwal's 39 runs from 35 balls.
Canada has lost all three matches in the group stage so far.
In another match of Group B, Munis Ansari's four-wicket haul and Jatinder Singh's 65 runs off 56 balls helped Oman beat heavyweight Netherlands by six wickets.
Oman chased 136 runs target in the 19th over at Edinburgh, Scotland after Jatinder remained not out hitting five boundaries.
Zeeshan Maqsood (29 runs off 24 balls) and Sultan Ahmed (24 runs off 17 balls) also played crucial role in Oman's victory.
Earlier, the Netherlands was bowled out in 19.4 overs on 135 runs as Oman's Munis bagged four wickets giving away only 15 runs in four overs.
Stephen Myburgh (41 runs off 43 balls), Max O'Dowd (32 off 21) and Wesley Barresi (21 off 23) were major run contributors for the Netherlands.
With the result, Oman collected four points from three matches, while the Netherlands has four points from four matches.
