UAE eases visa process for Nepalis; Police clearance now mandatory

Under the updated process, submitting a police clearance certificate has been made mandatory for all visa applicants.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has relaxed its visa procedures for Nepali workers and visitors, which were temporarily tightened over security concerns following the Gen Z protest.



According to the Nepal Foreign Employment Agencies Association and Director at the Department of Immigration Tikaram Dhakal, the UAE eased the restrictions after a formal request from the Nepal government.

Under the updated process, submitting a police clearance certificate has been made mandatory for all visa applicants.


The decision is expected to help sustain remittance inflows, as the UAE remains Nepal’s largest labor destination. A total of 80,901 Nepali workers received final labor approval in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
