Two prison escapees arrested in Surkhet

Both individuals have been handed over to the Surkhet District Prison for further legal action, police confirmed.

SURKHET, Oct 6: Surkhet police have arrested two inmates who had escaped from prisons in Banke and Kathmandu during the recent Gen Z protests.



According to the District Police Office, Surkhet, 22-year-old Ratan Wadi, convicted in a rape case and absconded from Banke’s Naubasta prison on September 8, was arrested on Monday. He was found hiding in Gurvakot-6, Nakkale, and taken into custody by police from the Mehelkuna outpost.

Similarly, police also apprehended Gangabahadur Bhurung, who had fled from Kathmandu’s Nakkhu prison on the same date. Bhurung, a native of Lekbesi-8, Surkhet, had returned home after his escape. He was arrested around 11 AM on Monday from his residence by the Lekbesi Area Police Office.


Both individuals have been handed over to the Surkhet District Prison for further legal action, police confirmed.
