Two killed, 34 injured in bus collision in Tulsipur

TULSIPUR, June 8: A fatal bus accident in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City-13, Bakhariya, claimed the lives of two people and left 34 others injured on Sunday.



According to Inspector Surya Bahadur Rana of the Area Police Office, Tulsipur, the deceased have been identified as Narayan Bhandari, 65, and Shanta Khadka Chaudhary, 25, both residents of Dangisharan Rural Municipality-2.

The accident occurred when a passenger bus (Na 4 Kha 4009) en route from Goltakuri to Tulsipur collided head-on with an empty school bus (Ra 1 Ka 870) of Gyanjyoti Boarding School traveling from Tulsipur to Bakhariya.


Of the injured, four are in critical condition, 15 sustained moderate injuries, and the rest are reported to have minor injuries. All are receiving treatment at Rapti Provincial Hospital, Tulsipur. Most passengers were from the same village, police said.


Rescue teams led by Deputy Inspector Pareshwar Dangi from the Damargau police office and Inspector Rana from the Tulsipur police office were immediately dispatched to the scene.


Police have taken both drivers into custody and launched an investigation. The passenger bus reportedly veered about five meters off the road after the crash.
