KATHMANDU, March 18: Tribhuvan University's constituent and community campuses will hold the Free Student Union (FSU) elections today. However, the university campus will conduct its elections on March 21.

The university campus will elect a 21-member FSU, with 11 members chosen directly and 10 through proportional representation. The campus has 6,146 voters who will cast their ballots to select their leadership.

Voters will directly elect the president, secretary, and treasurer. The vice president and assistant secretary, along with the 21 members, will be selected after the election. If an organization secures the majority, the vice president and assistant secretary will be chosen from among its members. If no majority is reached, they may be selected by consensus.

If no agreement is made, the vice president and assistant secretary will be elected from the 21 members' votes. According to the election committee, the university campus will use 20 electronic voting machines for the elections.

While preparing for the FSU election, the All Nepal National Free Students' Union (ANNFSU) padlocked the Ratnarajya Laxmi (RR) campus at midnight on Monday. The ANNFSU accused the campus administration of issuing fake identification cards and demanded an impartial investigation.

Meanwhile, the FSU elections scheduled for today at Amrit Science Campus have been postponed due to security concerns. Acting campus chief Hom Bahadur Baniya announced the postponement through a notice, citing the absence of some student organizations at the meeting convened on Monday. The National Human Rights Commission will monitor the elections scheduled for today.
