Top leaders express grief over Dhading bus tragedy, call for effective treatment of injured

A passenger bus (Ga 2 Kha 1421) traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu met with an accident at around 1:30 am today at Bhaisigauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, after plunging into the Trishuli River. According to reports, 19 people have lost their lives in the incident, while dozens were injured. (Earlier reports had mentioned 17 deaths and 27 injuries.)

KATHMANDU, Feb 23: Top political leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the fatal bus accident in Dhading and urged the government to ensure effective treatment for the injured.



A passenger bus (Ga 2 Kha 1421) traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu met with an accident at around 1:30 am today at Bhaisigauda in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, after plunging into the Trishuli River. According to reports, 19 people have lost their lives in the incident, while dozens were injured. (Earlier reports had mentioned 17 deaths and 27 injuries.)

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli expressed sorrow over the incident. In a social media message, he offered tributes to the deceased, extended condolences to the grieving families, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.


Similarly, Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, expressed deep grief over the heavy human loss caused by the accident. Through social media, he paid tribute to those who lost their lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also urged the Government of Nepal to make arrangements for the swift rescue and effective treatment of the injured.


President of the Nepali Congress (NC), Gagan Kumar Thapa, also issued a statement expressing profound sadness over the tragedy. He paid heartfelt tribute to the victims, prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls, and conveyed deep sympathies to the bereaved families on behalf of himself and the party. He urged the government to ensure proper treatment for the injured.


The NC further drew the government’s attention to the rising number of road accidents in recent times, calling for the immediate formation of a task force to conduct an in-depth study of such incidents and recommend measures to reduce them.
