HoR meeting: Oppn lawmakers demand govt address pending issues

KATHMANDU, June 18: At the outset of the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, the MPs from the opposition parties expressed their protest standing from their seats, citing the government failing to implement their demands.



After this, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal allocated time to them to put their views. Accordingly, Narendra Kumar Kerung of the Nepali Congress complained that the government failed to implement the report of the Asset Investigation Commission and the report on human rights, although they drew the government's attention on this and other matters, through the floor of the Parliament, from time to time.

UML MP Laxmi Prasad Pokharel expressed disagreement with the statement, regarding the border issue between Nepal and India, made by the Prime Minister in the House on May 31. Fellow party MP Ain Mahar emphasised that maintaining the dignity of the House is a shared responsibility of both MPs and the government.


Nepali Communist Party MP Ramesh Kumar Malla complained that the opposition parties' questions raised in parliament were not properly addressed. 


MP Harka Raj Rai of the Shram Sanskriti Party urged the government to properly address the demands and problems of Bhutanese refugees.


Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MP Tahir Ali Bhat drew the government's attention to reducing the price of petroleum products and preventing additional financial burden on consumers.
