Organized by Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in partnership with Barclays, the event recognized an intense competition between four teams from KUSOM, Nepal Commerce Campus, Islington College and British College itself.The winning team will now represent Nepal in the 2015 CIMA Global Business Challenge Global Finals in Warsaw, Poland to be held from August 3 to 7. The team, comprised of Kalpana Pant (team leader), Angel Sharma, Priyanka Puri and Safalta Shrestha, will soon be flying to Poland where they will be competing with 25 other international teams. The team also won Rs. 50,000.
This year, 148 teams from 37 colleges across Nepal registered for the competition. The contestants, each in a team of four, were to demonstrate their ability in business management and analysis by submitting a report on a business case pertaining to the oil and gas industry. Thereafter, four teams out of 148 were selected to present their report in the CIMA GBC held on Tuesday.
Of the other 3 teams Team Abstract from NCC were awarded First Runners Up, Falcons Consulting from KUSOM the Second Runners Up and I=RS Squared from Islington became the Third Runners Up.
Judges at the event this year consisted of Dr Surya Prakash Shrestha, Director of NIBL Capital; Aashmi Rana, Managing Director at Rana Global Pvt Ltd; and Shabda Gyawali, Investment Manager, Dolma Impact Fund.
"The CIMA Global Business Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Nepali undergraduates to gain global exposure and learn real life business skills. For a developing country like Nepal, a competition of such magnitude really helps to sharpen the business acumen of the future business leaders of tomorrow," said Shristi Mishra and Sagar Satyal, who are the country representatives of the CIMA GBC for Nepal.
