Kanchanpur DFA elected Thapa as president unanimously on Tuesday amidst District Administrations Office´s (DAO) directive to stop the election following complaints by 27 football clubs. However, Kanchanpur DFA overlooked the directive and said the election doesn´t come under DAO´s jurisdiction and held the election.
Kanchanpur DFA elected Maha Sharma Neupane as first vice-president, Narendra Raj Joshi as second vice president and Nirajan Thapa as third vice president. Incumbent president Ganesh Bahadur Chand was elected as a member of the DFA.
Swimmers leave for Italy
KATHMANDU, July 21: Nepali swimmers left for Italy to participate in the 13th FINA World Championships on Tuesday. Prasiddha Jung Shah and Shailesh Rana will participate in the men´s category while Shaila Rana and Shreya Dhital will participate in the women´s.
The event begins on July 22 and will conclude on August 3.
Trinity, Golden Gate win in Fr Donnelly Basketball
KATHMANDU, July 21: The second day of the ongoing Second Fr Donnelly 3 on 3 Open Basketball Championship remained favorable to the Trinity College and Golden Gate College, as all three team of both the colleges won their respective matches in the men´s category held at the GAA Hall in Thamel on Tuesday.
Trinity C outplayed Like My Hoops in straight set (2-0), leading both the sets 21-17, 21-11. Both Trinity B and Trinity A recorded wins in straight sets over NIT and Malpi Institute. Likewise, Golden Gate C, A and B too had two sets to nil win over Prime B, Revolver and Supernova.
Similarly, Prime A beat Himalayan White House B with two sets to in and Rato Bangala defeated Almost with similar scoreline. In women´s category, Prime TIA, GAA and B Square won their respective matches.
