The NTA is demanding the enactment of a quality education law and a student-teacher-friendly education act. Since February 2, 2025, under the leadership of the NTA, teachers across the country have been involved in continuous protests.

As part of this movement, they have been holding demonstrations in Kathmandu since April 2. The leaders have called this protest the ‘final and decisive movement’ to push for the enactment of the education law.

In a press release from the National Committee of the NTA, it is stated, “To strengthen this movement, a general educational strike has been announced from April 7. We urge all teachers and staff to participate in the educational street protests in Kathmandu by closing all schools across the country."

The NTA has also requested that during the movement, teachers refrain from engaging in any activities such as evaluating answer sheets, publishing results, or conducting training workshops, seminars, or educational trips.
