KATHMANDU, June 12: The Nepali Congress (NC) has updated its active membership to 538,622, according to a statement issued by the party on Thursday night.
The party said that 149,309 members have submitted self-updated forms and are currently being verified by ward presidents.

The membership update process has also triggered internal differences within the party, with leaders from the establishment side and its allied faction supporting the exercise while leaders from the opposing faction have raised objections. The issue has further deepened internal debate within the party.
However, the establishment side maintains that the update process aims to make the party organization stronger, more systematic, and technology-based.
The party has stated that a total of 782,209 members are eligible for active membership updates.
