Tanahun Hydropower:  Affected get compensation

Damauli (Tanahun), Jan 31: Compensation has been given to the 101 families in Rishing Rural Municipality-1 affected by the 140-megawatt Tanahun Hydropower Project’s construction. 

According to project chief Shyamji Bhandari, compensation has been allocated for 118 families, including 98 from Rishing Rural Municipality-1 and 20 from Beteni, Byas Municipality-5. In the first phase, 101 families have received compensation, with the highest amount being Rs 300,000 and the lowest Rs 10,000.

Package 1 of this project includes the dam and other structures that are under construction. The accumulated water at the dam’s foundation has been drained, and a tower crane is in place. Project chief Bhandari reported that drilling and concreting are currently in progress in the dam’s lower riparian zone.
