The university provides awards to the best students from different disciplines. In 2010, as a student of Master´s degree, Khadka scored highest marks and was acknowledged the best student in the field of engineering.[break]
Khadka received the award for researching on the subject matter of micro particle like gold and silver used for identifying pancreatic cancer.
"This achievement is not merely mine, it´s of entire Nepal," said Khadka in a telephone interview.
Earlier in 2009 a student from France had received the award.
Khadka also received a scholarship from Pulp and Paper Foundation. He is the only international student to have received the scholarship out of 15 thousand students from Pulp and Paper Foundation.

Born in Bargaja of Myagdi, Khadka pursued his schooling till grade eight in a government school in his village. From grade nine, he studied at Amrit Aadarsha Higher Secondary School in Baglung.
Likewise, Khadka passed his SLC examination in first division and he completed his +2 from National Integrated College in Kathmandu.
Khadka´s father, an ex- Indian soldier, expressed his happiness for his son´s accomplishment. "I didn´t even imagine of this day and there is no limitation to my happiness," he said.
A brother of five elder sisters, Khadka, was excellent during his school days. Mahesh Chandra Pradhan, principal of Amrit Aadarsha Higher Secondary School, praised Khadka and said, "Sushil is really a brilliant and curious student."
Talking about the educational excursion Pradhan shared, "I remember one day when Sushil was given the responsibility of preparing a report of a tour; he didn´t just submit a report but a whole book."
