Subedi's 'Dishahin Yatra' released

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Surya Subedi’s novel ‘Dishahin Yatra’ was released on September 13, 2012 amidst a function in Kathmandu. Litterateurs Jagdist Ghimire, Taranath Sharma and Ganga Prasad Uprety jointly released the novel.



The 166 page novel is Subedi’s first creation in the genre. The novel has been published by Surendra Kumar Karki of Sabla Publications, Dillibazar and is priced at Rs 275. Subedi who is also a newspaper columnist has earlier published a collection of stories entitled ‘Surya Subedi Ka Kathaharu’.[break]



The novel is based on the socio-political context of Nepal after the restoration of democracy. “I have tried to depict the political environment of the country after the restoration of democracy in 1990 and the rural society,” the 64 year old Subedi said.



Commenting on the novel, Prof Khagendra Luitel said that it is the best book ever written on the conflict of Nepal without demonstrating prejudice for any party. “The novel adopts a post-modernist approach. It is based on ideology rather than characters and uses simple Nepali language,” Luitel said.



Commenting on the book, Litterateur Taranath Sharma said that the book attempts to show the plight of the common people made victims of political instability in the country.



Vice Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Uprety, litterateur Gopi Krishna Sharma, Jagdish Ghimire also commented on the novel.
