SPORTS BRIEFS: Nepali youth team achieve third win in row

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: Nepali U-14 team achieved third straight win on Wednesday with a convincing 4-0 win over Pakistan in the Kizuna Project Japan-SAARC U-14 Football Exchange being held in Shizuoka, Japan.



Lalit Thapa put Nepal ahead in the 9th minute and Rabi Bhandari added the second a minute later. Bimal Gharti Magar scored in the 16th and Shiva Subedi in the 19th minute. The total time of match is 50 minute. On Tuesday, Nepal had defeated Maldives 4-0 and Japan B 3-1 respectively. [break]



Kamal Thapa reaches the final of single, doubles tennis



KATHMANDU
: Kamal Thapa on Wednesday reached the final of above 55 years age singles and doubles of the All India Senior Tennis Association tournament being held in the Vasant Vihar Club Tennis courts in New Delhi. Thapa, the president of Rastriya Prajatantra Party - Nepal defeated BS Tulasiram of Karnataka, India 6-3 6-7 6-1 in the semifinal in the singles.



In the quarterfinal played on Tuesday, Thapa had defeated Yogesh Sah of Gujrat 6-4, 6-1. Thapa, the runner up of last edition will meet S Settu in the final to be held on Thursday. Thapa who had paired with Yogesh Sah in doubles category beat a pair of K Vijay and S Sudhakaran 6-1, 6-2 for final place.
