SPORTS BRIEFS: Footballer suspended

KATHMANDU, March 19: Annapurna Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) slapped a three-year suspension on their player Krishna Kunwar on Friday for remaining absent without informing the club.



In a letter to the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), the club requested the football´s governing body to take appropriate action against Kunwar unless he refunds nine months´ salary and other expenses amounting to Rs 208,000 that he received from the club. [break]



RCT is said to have learnt that Kunwar has gone to Sikkim, India to play qualifying league. RCT sought help from ANFA to seek the whereabouts of Kunwar by contacting the concerned authorities of Sikkim.





Bodybuilders selected



KATHMANDU, March 19: Nepal Body Building and Fitness Association selected 15 bodybuilders on Friday for their participation in the Seventh South Asian Body Building Championship to be held from June 4-7 in Kathmandu.



Dayaram Diwakar, Sachit Pradhan, Devendra Bajracharya, Ramhari Khadka, Harkaraj Limbu, Biru Maharjan, Gyan Narayan Maharjan, Shyam Shrestha, Mukti Raj Rai, Bimal Shrestha, Kiran Shrestha, Sunanda Raj Shakya, Dil Kumar Gurung, Milan Bikram Sijapati and Arjun Barnawal were selected from among 29 contestants in the first phase of selection.



The organizers informed that the final selection will be held next month.
