In the girls´ category, Mahendra Bhawan defeated Gyanodaya 25-16 with 12 points from Shanti Shrestha. Meanwhile, Deep Jyoti and Tri Jyoti registered wins in the Sixth Daffodil Cup junior football tournament. Deep Jyoti beat The Excelsior 3-1 while Tri Jyoti thrashed TIA 4-0. The match between Brihaspati Vidya Sadan and Reed Model School ended in a goalless draw.
Double delights for Angels´ Heart
KATHMANDU: A and B teams of Angels´ Heart reached the semifinals of girls´ section in the Fourth Newton Inter School Volleyball Tournament on Sunday. Likewise, Samakhushi English Boarding School (SEB) and Bijeshwari School also booked semifinal spots. SEB defeated Oxford 25-10, 25-14 while Paradigm gave walkover to Bijeshwari. Angels´ Heart ´A´ overcame host Newton 25-11, 25-13 while Angels´ Heart ´B´ thrashed Pushpa Kunja 25-6, 25-12.
Meanwhile, Apollo and Angels´ Heart entered into the last four of the boys´ section. Apollo struggled past SEB 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 26-24 while Angels´ Heart beat Paradigm 25-16, 25-22, 24-26, 25-11.
Rawal wins two gold medals
KATHMANDU: Naresh Rawal of Nepal-1 Television won two gold medals in the Third Inter Television Table Tennis Tournament on Sunday. Rawal defeated Madan Acharya of Nepal Television 11-4, 11-3, 11-4 in the men´s singles category.
Rawal paired with Nikesh Khadka in the men´s doubles to beat the pair of Madan Acharya and Manohari Thapa 11-7, 11-8, 7-11, 13-11 for gold. In the women´s category, Sonu Khadka of Avenues Television beat Sumitra Bhattarai of Image Channel 11-8, 12-10, 13-11 for gold.
Morang XI wins title
JHAPA: Morang XI clinched the title of Eastern Women´s Knockout Football Tournament defeating Ilam XI on Sunday. In the final played at Domalal Stadium, Morang beat Ilam 3-0 with goals from Man Maya Limbu, Dipa Neupane and Geeta Khadka. Along with the trophy, Morang bagged Rs 20,000 while Ilam received Rs 15,000.
