Prior to this joint meeting, Speaker Ghimire had held separate consultations with Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Whip of the ruling CPN-UML Bartaula and RSP’s Pariyar to find ways to resolve the deadlock in Parliament.
Meanwhile, lawmakers from various parties drew the Speaker’s attention to RSP lawmakers entering the House wearing blue scarves, expressing concern over what they described as growing indiscipline in the chamber.
Speaker Ghimire acknowledged the concerns and emphasized that maintaining parliamentary decorum is the responsibility of all lawmakers and political parties. He added that he supports self-regulation within the legislature.
